Acne is a common problem faced by a number of people. When it comes to the causes and treatments for Acne, there is a lot of information available, but all information is not valid and authentic. There is a number of misconceptions and myths describing the acne causes and its cures.

Here I am going to discuss some myths about Acne:

  • Myth: Acne is only for teenagers
  • Fact: Acne occurs due to hormonal fluctuation at any age, not only in teenage. There is a number of causes such as pregnancy, menstruation, menopause, and stress.
  • Myth: Acne is a genetic disorder
  • Fact: Although genetics play a role in acne development, but there are a number of other causes which contribute to acne development. However, Acne can be prevented by balancing diet, staying hydrated and getting enough sleep.
  • Myth: Acne is caused by dirt particles
  • Fact: Acne starts to form within the skin, not from the outside. Whiteheads and blackheads can occur when glands produce excessive oil in the skin.
  • Myth: Washing skin, again and again, is the best way to fight Acne
  • Fact: Washing, again and again, can rob your skin and cause its dryness. This could potentially lead to breakouts.
